Grace does not wait for a finished life.
Hymns for the Unfinished is a collection of personal essays shaped by Scripture, memory, ordinary life, and losses that did not resolve neatly. The book returns to the people and places that formed James: a West Texas ranch, the death of his father, a broken family, years of regret, and the loss of his relationship with his daughters.
These are not stories of pain conquered through sufficient effort. They are stories of a man discovering that Christian faith is not a reward for finally getting everything right. It is the stubborn hope that Christ remains present in what is broken, unresolved, and still becoming.
