Raised beneath the wide skies of West Texas, James writes from lived experience rather than academic theology. His work is interested in the places where inherited faith meets adult grief—and in what remains after certainty, self-reliance, and easy answers have failed.
He is the author of Hymns for the Unfinished: A Memoir of Grief, Grace, and Becoming. The book gathers personal essays about loss, regret, family, fatherhood, forgiveness, Scripture, and the stubborn hope that Christ remains present in unfinished lives.
James also hosts CREDO, a Christian faith podcast about what he believes, why he believes it, and whether those beliefs can withstand doubt, suffering, failure, and ordinary life. He approaches those questions openly as a layman—not as a priest, theologian, or expert.
